What about static cling?
You’re over-drying your laundry. Try shortening your dry cycle or try adding wool dryer balls to your load. They’ll improve air circulation and reduce static.
A fabric sheet in the dryer load remove the static cling out of the dryer load, leaving your towels in a fluffy state of being. Dad of 6 BIG STRAPPING boys, whose been doing laundry since I was 8 years old, am now 58.
How do you prevent color fade?
Simple don’t dry your clothes. Color fade is not due to washing its due to drying your clothes. Every time you dry your clothes the dryer pulls lint from the clothes. When you clean the filter dryer you see lint. Don’t dry your favorite shirt or pants in the dryer. Fabric softener also will cause clothes to fade quick. Towels dry them with no fabric sheets or liquid softener. Tend not to dryer towels either. Dryer will remove all the lint from your towels. Wash in cold water.
I like when my whites have a slight bleach odor post drying.
I like the fresh laundry smell and softer clothes with liquid fabric softener.
I hang up my clothes to dry outside, which makes my clothes rough/stiff if I don’t use fabric softener.
I only use the minimum amount of both liquid detergent and softener and have my washer machine do a second rinse cycle.
Fabric softener is highly flammable. Worst product for clothing. Fabric sheets clog up dryer filters leaves a residue on your filter screen.

I keep bars of soap in my drawers, an idea my mom gave me. Usually I put in the ones I find a little fancy. I feel like I need to preserve them for as long as possible lol.
