Alarms are useless because in order to work someone has to come help you, and the reality is now that many incidents happen openly and passerby will ignore you out of fear.
If the item doesn’t actually do anything to the other person, it’s not going to help.
The reality is that traveling alone is not safe for women. Be part of a group or be ready to actually defend yourself.
