Consumer Reports are the MOST dependable source to go to, if you are buying a new or used car.
Hold on with the manual comment there. Get used to one and you’ll feel like every automatic car is constantly trying to drive you forward into a collision. Which they are, and which is very alarming once you feel it. I hate walking between cars only because most are autos, they will literally cut you in half if their driver slips a brake foot (sneezing or something). Most manuals nowadays have hill hold until throttle application as well, which makes rolling back after the first few days pretty much a conscious choice. The EPA figures for manual mileage are far less accurate than they are for manuals, so you definitely will still real world beat an auto with the same engine. It’s not even close if you are trying, even if the comparo is manual vs automated manual (dual or single). The only thing keeping it from being sooooo obvious is that the manuals always get equipped with a slightly more aggressive final gear ratio, which is great from a driving feel pov. Automatics have grown by huge leaps over the years, but the manuals have kept getting better as well.
What is the point of naming the Fisker Ocean as one of the worst cars of the year if it is a car that you cannot buy!!!! What a wasted opportunity to inform people so they can avoid some of the terrible cars you CAN buy. 👎👎👎
Fisker is too easy a target, mostly because it’s left the game (though I realize the resale market is problematic)
Elon’ musk truck.. is it a truck?? Tank ..?? Car?? A box?? A piece of… sss….?? Where or what it is place with, it will ruin the image of the surrounding. I was strongly believe that we are not blind and smarter than this.
I take my mustang with the 10 speed please
It seems there’s a ton of people working for just the car segment of CR
Great broadcast. It was good hearing from all those people behind the scenes. Happy New Year.
We missed Ryan Pszczolkowski.
BMW EV is one of the favourites? CR is crazy!
These people know nothing about cars
I understand the dislike for “fake sounds” from some cars, but really, is it any more manufactured than the tailpipes or whatever it is that makes a Mustang sound like a Mustang? Unless you take off all the mufflers/tailpipes, you are manufacturing a sound in some way, shape, or form…whether it’s bending metal, or creating digital/computer sounds…
I had to drive Mustang GT a couple of months ago for work, and I absolutely loved it. I used to have Pontiac Trans Am 30 years ago and I truly have forgotten how exciting true sports cars are. The sound of the engine, acceleration, overall feel of driving made me realize how we as a society forgot the enthusiasm of driving.
This was very entertaining and I came to understand how many does it take to keep CR ticking…
One suggestion: Recently, I had a knee surgery and getting in and out of the front passenger seat of an SUV made me realize how important is that the front doors open wide to 90°. Nobody thinks about it and perhaps they should..
This is beyond lame.
