How To Buy a Used Car Now:
Can CR do a talking cars episode where each person says their Top 5 Best Cars for Teens? Would be cool to hear.
They did one a couple years ago and I actually bought one of the cars on the list Infiniti g37….. that was 7 years ago. Funny how the time flies
@HondaJohn Perhaps an updated list for old time’s sake.
With all the problems and recalls Kia has had, definitely wouldn’t buy one for a teenager. I’ve heard mechanics and owners say they don’t like Rogues.
Not to mention if it’s not keyless, it’s really easy to steal
@AD yeah that too.
I wouldn’t touch a Kia/Hyundai/Genesis with a ten foot pole. Saw one on fire, my friend’s died on the side of the road with zero oil (well before the oil change was due). I wonder if they ever make it a year before light bulbs need to be changed too. I’d stay away from any Nissan with a CVT transmission too.
With the new IIHS standards most vehicles 2022 and prior that were top safety pick plus or top safety pick are no longer with the more realistic updated moderate and side 2023 testing.
Given how inflated used car values are check the maintenance schedule for any used car and see how close you are to major repairs should be noted. Even an old Toyota will need suspension components or if applicable a timing belt or chain maintenance depending on the mileage. With a good rate from a credit union or even the manufacturer with discounted financing if may be better to buy a low trim 2023 Corolla with the safety package (a 2023 IIHS Top Safety pick) or the 2023 Kia Soul with the safety package with the discounted apr offer 2.9% for 48 months.
Nissan Rogue for my kid? LoL. Lost my interest on this video at the beginning..🤦♂
Nissan? Kia? How about no. Does CR even do research anymore?
And what do you drive? A dodge dart? 😂
Maybe they do. The CVT on the Rogue will die in short order. Similarly the Kia will be hot wired and trashed. In either case, the teen will have a vehicle that they cannot drive – which will keep them out of trouble. From a value standpoint, the best investment may be a bus pass.
I think CR got Kia & Nissan at top ranking because of CR Members votes on survey which may not align with the real world reliability. I think Nissan understood the problem and quietly moving to automatics like the Pathfinder?
Avalon for teen wow. I cant afford avalon for myself lol. CRV for teen all day long. Even reliable Rav4 is not for teen.
Get a Camry instead
The ADAS safety system is horrible older Honda’s.. Phantom breaking all the time, Honda said “Everything Normal”.. Sold the car that month! And back in Toyota/Lexus, love our 23’ Lexus NX350H with ZERO ADAS issues!
THANK YOU SO MUCH. ALL ARE GREAT CHOICES FOR ANYBODY NEEDING A USED CAR.
SUGGESTION: BEST USED TRUCKS AND MINI TRUCKS FOR TEEN DRIVERS.
What’s your thoughts on the Volvo 850 as a used car?
Umm… I don’t think I’ll be driving any of these
🙏🏼
