The 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser Base has arrived amid a surge of new and redesigned off-road-ready trucks and SUVs. But Toyota has done something different. Its redesigned Land Cruiser is smaller, less expensive, and claims more fuel efficiency than the previous-generation version. It shares basic architecture with the redesigned Lexus GX and the coming redesigned 2025 Toyota 4Runner.

17.5 gallon gas tank. That is the biggest problem with this otherwise expensive but lovely truck. You wont go crusing far from a gas station!!

  2. PHEV/EREV version of this car and it would be over

  3. It’s more of an upgraded FJ Cruiser than a downgraded Land Cruiser.

I am so glad that Land Cruiser stop being a Luxury bloated car and now it is a practical 4×4 wagon. Pricing is acording to a Toyota practical car.

  5. I wish this Land Cruiser was marketed as Land Cruiser 250 or Land cruiser Prado, its not in the same class as the Land cruiser 200 we had up until 2021. Outside of USA there is Land Cruiser 300 which people call as Land Cruiser.

  6. Save a few bucks and get a 4Runner! 😊👌

2:25 why is the door frame so thin?

I am curious how that hybrid max system does off-road. I saw some reviews with the grand highlander and its off roading abilities were hindered by the hybrid max system over heating..

Look at how they massacred my boy

This is a gas engine Prado.

I am looking forward to your assessment of towing and comparing the Land Cruiser to the new 4 Runner

    Overpriced, get a 4runner

  13. I sat in one of these recently. I was not impressed. Interior parts feel flimsy. If you press on the toggle switches, the entire section with all of the switches moves. Some of the interior material is so rough it’s not even comfortable to set your hand on, like the plastic in the cupholders. I would not mind this at 35-45k, but I cannot imagine paying 50-70k. It is not worth that.

    Excellent review… thank you

The land cruiser didn’t shrink they just replaced the full size with the baby “Land Cruiser Prado” from over seas that we only used to get here as the Lexus GX and vise versa.
Australians will get the GX550 for the first time we get their legendary Prado

GX looks so much nicer/classier/cleaner design, all petrol, nicer v6 engine.

Hybrid complexity to save a few mpg doesn’t seem worth it. So much more complexity, parts, maintenance, repairs in the future for a hybrid.

Adjustable thigh support is not new for Toyotas … They’ve offered that since at least 2007 on the Tundra and Sequoia if you get a high-level trim package: https://youtu.be/Wgy_dXdvVus?si=jJpO3lU78lIzUki8&t=36

It’s so damn cool. I have a deposit down for one just like this with the brown leather. Should be here in a few weeks. So excited!!

  19. That shifter did not come from Tundra. That looks more like the RAV4 shifter.

I love how Toyota incorporated the old Land Cruiser design elements into this new Land Cruiser. Well done! Please increase the gas tank size in the mid cycle refresh.
